My concept for Life is a Dream focuses on the fictional aspect. I would like to experiment trying to create the fictional Poland and Muscovy from my own point of view inspired by other classic fantasy-based historic shows or films, such as, The Witcher, Game of Thrones and Lord of the Rings etc. I will take inspiration from the medieval design and other historical eras throughout the characters to create the historical appearance and atmosphere without the final look being able to be visually linked to one era of fashion. This I hope will help create the visual illusion of the play being set elsewhere whilst still recognizing that the play is supposed to be historical. As there are two different countries represented within the play it will be important to clearly visually separate the two for clarity with the audience much like the aforementioned. To solve this, my initial idea is to focus on visuals such as distinct colour pallets, embroidery, sigil and pattern-cutting. I will experiment with these aspects to create individual identities for the kingdoms and their residents.
