Hello! My Name is Sophronia and I am a Performance Costume Design graduate from The University of Edinburgh. My studies originally began in Fashion Design Level 2 and 3( Extended Diploma) where I gained the foundation of skills and knowledge to begin my further education in Performance Costume Design. Since then I have been studying in the beautiful city of Edinburgh, surrounded by a rich history, culture, and inspiration for my studies.

During my three years, I have also been a member of the Ballroom Dancing Society, it was here that I discovered my interest in competitive dancewear costume. I took every opportunity to immerse myself in as many areas of costume as possible, this included volunteering to construct costumes for the Universities Opera society and Salsa societies in my spare time.  During the end of the academic years, I took pleasure in aiding the current 4th years in completing their graduate pieces whilst making valuable connections with amazing people.

During the summer of 2020 before my graduate year in isolation, I filled my time learning new crafts and skills to entertain myself. This included flower pressing, papermaking and various cultural embroidery. I also became part of the World University Peace Assembly, a program created by students for students around the world to make a global difference. I have the privilege to have 'language buddies' around the world who I now consider close friends to originally assist in extra language proficiency through conversation. I have recently been invited alongside others to be a speaker to share my skill set and experiences with the World University Peace Assembly.

I am currently working on my final graduate year projects where I am enjoying exploring multicultural fabrics and textile embellishment and dye. I have particular interests in historical cultures and textiles and find myself often inspired by mythologies and folklore and explore these as often as I can to keep my skills honed and always evolving.
